Journal extract. -- Since joining the Chamber in 2004, Tom Connell MD of Tom Connell Investigations & Security Ltd (TCIS) has recently moved due to further expansion. He found that Peter Brown of Trump Developments in Hillington Park was very helpful in assisting TCIS to find a spacious and flexible office space at the old Rolls Royce administration block in Edison Street, Hillington Park. Their move co-insides with the launch of the new company website, www.tomconnell.com. Tom who is member of the Association of British Investigators, World Association of Detectives, and Area Governor of Scotland for the World investigators Network, is frequently asked what kind of interesting assignments he has been involved with. There are many that he can’t discuss but the ones that he finds most interesting are the some of the complicated family traces.

He was tasked with finding the dependant of a man who had passed away in Glasgow a few years ago. Father and son had never met. Many had tried before but to no avail. The only available information was the son’s approximate age, his name and the town in England where he was last known to be living with his mother. It took several months but Tom tracked down the son to Australia during a trip around the world. He had changed his name by deed poll and had not kept in touch with anyone in his family.

During the trace, Tom found that the son had some sisters and a brother, of which he was unaware. They were desperate to meet, so Tom arranged a location in Glasgow where they met for the first time. That’s the type of work that Tom gets most satisfaction from.

For the most part TCIS undertake mainly corporate investigations and surveillance for many blue-chip Insurers and Solicitors. Currently they investigate motor accident and injury claims as well as tracing and debt recovery work. In addition TCIS services the growing need for small/medium businesses that require sensitive handling of problems involving internal security and pilfering by their own employees.

Tom has recently joined the Scottish Investigators Forum, formed specifically to lobby our new parliament about impending laws that could have a significant impact on the industry.
